What does project management involve?
Project management is a service provided to business or personal customers who are planning a house extension, property renovation or new build. Embarking on a project like this can be daunting and time-consuming for consumers, which is where project managers come in.
As project manager, you will organise the professional services required to complete the project on time and on budget. You'll assist and advise customers on:
- The Planning Application - what to do, how to apply, what it will cost, and how to fill out the forms.
- Architects & Surveyors - recommending suitable providers.
- Builders or Tradesmen - arranging quotations from 2-3 companies, sourced from The National Trade Register.
- Contracts - drawing up a legally-binding 'home build contract' between customer and builder.
- Insurance - arranging suitable insurance or finance for the customer's project.
You may also be asked to source extra services such as:
- Kitchen & bathroom fitters
- Landscapers
- Carpets & curtain services
- Cleaners
What is the income potential?
There is no charge to the customer for this service. Your fee comes from a commission on services and work. For example, a £15,000 extension would earn you between £750 and £1250, and a £30,000 project could earn you up to £2500.
